Shakespeare Micro-Short Project Part 3

Caliban is referred to as “moon-calf” in the play as an expression of a foolish person. I thought it would be interesting to take the terms literal meaning as an abortive foetus. I visited Darwin’s Spirit Collection in the Museum of Natural History to have a look at the specimens they had there and did some sketching.

Since watching King Kong I was keen to see Andy Serkis at work, the guy is a genius when it comes to facial expression and body acting and putting a performance over believable animal behaviour.

I also took Shelley’s advice to look at David Tennant, especially for facial acting, if im trying to pull off a lot with just the two characters exchanging looks in my animation. He really has one of the most expressive faces on television. His performance as Hamlet really blows me away!
